The course is intended to provide the knowledge and skills you need as a thermographer to provide PURPOSE and STRUCTURE to your infrared program. It will show you a multitude of applications for thermography in industry, mainly within Electrical, Mechanical and Process / Fluid flow. The course will teach you how to organize your thermography program and manage the documentation setup and process.

During the course we will choose one application that you will work yourselves through in a group project. The application we choose depends on availability of equipment to practice on. You will work in groups of 2-4 people and create the documentation system from the beginning, until the final report, including the survey.

Course Outline:
  • Explore Infrared Thermography Application in Industry and Utility
  • Principle to define severity criteria for your application
  • Customize your Report Template to your application
  • Baseline and trending your thermography results

Purpose

The infrared camera by itself has no intrinsic value at all for your company. It is when you apply it to certain problems or issues that it becomes useful. You probably had some idea of what to use the infrared camera for when you first bought it. On this training course you will learn more ! Since the number of applications is more or less endless, we could not possibly cover everything. But we will make a systematic overview of the electrical, mechanical, and process / fluid flow applications that are common in the industrial area. This will definitely give you inspiration to expand your program.

Who should attend

The course is essential for those who want to continue upgrade their IR Condition Based Maintenance program. It will help you expand the usage of thermography to new areas and it will give your program two things- purpose and structure.

Prerequisites

Level I thermography course is required to be a Thermography application course student. Computer skill is a must.

Instructors

The course is developed and taught by Mikael Cronholm, ITC Level III Thermographer and Licensed Instructor. Mikael has 18 years experience in thermography and 14 years experience in training. He teaches about 25 week-long courses per year, mainly in Asia, but also in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. He has taught thermography to thousands of students in 35 countries, and was responsible for developing the ITC Level 1 training material, which is now used worldwide and is translated to 17 languages.
